A Cumberland County Superior Judge has RELEASED Brayan Laverde-Torres, 32, of Bridgeton, who fled the scene after a fatal collision on November 2nd, 2025. The victim, 62-year-old Steven Calloway, was taken to the hospital and succumbed to his injuries on November 11th.
During the hearing, Laverde-Torres required a Spanish translator, and was released with conditions that he must check in with the courts twice a month, operate a motor vehicle with a license, and abide by motor vehicle laws.

During the investigation, it was revealed that Laverde-Torres was observed exiting the vehicle to look under the truck after the collision, and then fled the scene. The pickup truck was found behind his residence with the license plate removed.
During an interview, Laverde-Torres admitted that he returned to the scene shortly after the crash to watch the investigation.
Brayan Laverde-Torres has been charged with the following:
Obstructing Administration of Law or other Government Function
Hindering Apprehension or Prosecution
Knowingly Leaving the Scene of Motor Vehicle Accident resulting in Serious Bodily Injury
Knowingly Leaving the Scene of Accident Under Certain Circumstances (Accident resulting in Death)
